Topic: Engaging and Supporting Families So Their Children Thrive

Young children’s development (Pre-Birth to Age 8) is enhanced when their parents, extended family members and other caregivers and the community provide the guidance, support and resource that contributes to their well-being.  This two-part program includes presentations about two (2) projects reflecting the premise.

Health, Art Therapy and Literacy 

Claudia Williams, PhD, NGO Representative, Council of International Programmes (CIP), and Dr. Parthener Olivia Pinder, MD, currently enrolled in MPH  Policy and Planning at New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY, will present their program currently being implemented in the SE Regional Health Authority Family Clinics  in St. Thomas Parish, Jamaica.

Allan_ShedlinAllan Shedlin, REEL FATHERS Founder & President, Washington, DC, former elementary school principal and former Executive Director of the National Elementary School Center.

Allan Shedlin has been working with community-based organizations in Central and Northern New Mexico, Montgomery County, MD and Washington, DC.  The REEL FATHERS program utilizes film and story as catalysts for dialogue and relationship skill-building with fathers.
